Calibrated Diamonds, Matched Pairs & Layouts
Diamonds cut to an exact millimeter size, supplied in the exact quantity you need, pairs matched stone for stone, and tiny fancy colors matched for pavé. Send a specification, a mount, or the single stone you already own, and we find or cut its match.
What it is
Calibrated diamonds are stones cut to precise, repeatable millimeter dimensions so they set consistently into a manufactured design. PASAVAJA supplies calibrated parcels matched for size, color and clarity — in the exact quantity you need — and matches natural fancy color diamonds into pairs, layouts and parcels for pavé. There is no minimum order.
What makes a diamond “calibrated”?
A calibrated stone is cut to a specified diameter or length and width rather than to maximize carat weight. Tolerances are typically held to within about a tenth of a millimeter, varying slightly with size, which is what allows a setter to work from a fixed mount specification instead of adjusting each seat by hand.
Where do we find the exact number you need?
Three places, in order. First our own inventory, which is held in calibrated sizes rather than as a general parcel. What is not in stock we look for at Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai — the largest diamond market in the world, and the reason a specific count in a specific size is findable at all. What the market cannot supply in that size, we cut to order.
That order matters to your price and your date. From stock, we can match, check and ship within a week; a market search takes longer; cutting to order takes longer still but gets you an exact size that does not otherwise exist. You are told which of the three your order needs before you commit, not after.
Matching a pair, or the stone you already own
Two diamonds of the same grade can still look different beside one another, and a pair is judged side by side rather than against a report. We match on size, color, clarity and cut character — the last being what most often gives a mismatched pair away, because two stones can share a grade and still return light differently.
The service runs two ways. If you hold one stone and need its match, send us its report or the stone itself and we find the second. If you need both, we supply them matched as a pair from the start. The same applies to a set: four matched stones for a tennis bracelet section, or three for a ring, are found the same way.
Matched tiny pink diamonds for pavé
We match tiny natural pink and other fancy color diamonds into layouts and parcels for pavé, for example 50 tiny pinks that must read as one color across a piece.
We place the stones side by side in a white box and look at them in daylight, not under a lamp and not under strong UV light. Each stone is judged face up, the way it will be seen in the jewel. That is the test that matters. Then every stone goes on the gauge, so the whole set is calibrated to the same size.
Four mistakes jewelers make with tiny fancy color diamonds
- Color that does not match the design. A mismatched color makes the whole design look its worst.
- Choosing on clarity instead of color. With a color diamond, the color is what you are buying; clarity comes second.
- Expecting small round brilliants to show strong color. Rounds are not cut to show their body color, so in small melee the color shows less face up.
- The wrong metal. Set pink diamonds in rose gold to make them look pinker. Set yellow diamonds in yellow gold to make them look more yellow, with white metal around them for contrast, so the yellow stands out.
The layout nobody else could find
A Swiss jeweler needed 25 tiny pink diamonds, all square princess cuts, a combination that is very hard to find. He told us he had been searching for 50 days and no one had been able to source it. We delivered the set in 7 days.
Recutting for a setting, or for color
When a stone needs to fit a setting, we recut it to the exact parameters. We also recut diamonds to bring out more of their color. See our custom diamond cuts service.
Why does matching matter in a production run?
For a line of identical pieces, stones need to agree in color, clarity and cut character as well as size — otherwise the variation is visible across the run, even when every stone matches the specification on paper. We compare the parcel against itself before it ships, not only against the spec.
What sizes and shapes can PASAVAJA supply?
Rounds and fancy shapes from melee upward, in both white and natural fancy color. Where a size or shape is not in stock we cut to order — see our custom diamond cuts service.
Common questions
What tolerance do calibrated diamonds hold?
Typically within about ±0.1 mm of the specified dimension. It can vary slightly with size, and can be tighter on request for demanding settings.
Is there a minimum order?
No minimum order. We supply anything from a single matched pair to full production parcels. Shipping is charged as set out on our Shipping & payment page.
How quickly can you deliver?
From stock, we can match, check and ship within a week. Stones we source or cut to order take longer; you get a date before you commit.
Can you match to a stone I already own?
Yes, and it is one of the things we are asked for most. Send the report or the stone itself and we match size, color, clarity and cut character.
What if you cannot find the exact count?
You are told before you commit, with the options: a slightly different size, a longer date while we cut to order, or a partial quantity now and the balance to follow.
Can you match natural fancy colors?
Yes. Color matching is harder in fancies and takes longer, because hue and saturation have to agree as well as grade — we quote a realistic date rather than an optimistic one.
Which metal makes pink diamonds look pinker?
Rose gold.
How is payment made?
Payment is 100% in advance; the parcel ships once payment arrives.
