Sell your engagement ring

What is your engagement ring actually worth?

Send us a photograph and whatever details you have. You will have a real figure within three to four working days, with the reasoning behind it, and no obligation of any kind. We are a family diamond house buying for our own inventory, so there is no middleman and no fee taken out of your price.

How we arrive at a figure for your ring

A ring is valued in two parts: the centre diamond, which is almost always where the value sits, and the setting, which is valued by the weight of its metal. Neither has a single fixed price — both move with the trade on the day. Here is what we look at, in the order it matters.

The centre diamond

Carat, color, clarity and cut set the range, and this is where most of your ring’s value lives. Cut is the one most sellers underestimate: two diamonds of identical weight and color can differ substantially on cut alone.

The grading report

A GIA or IGI report lets us price with confidence rather than caution, and usually improves the offer. Most rings reach us without one, which is normal and never a problem — we can still make an offer, and can arrange grading if the diamond warrants it.

The day's trade price

We work from the Rapaport price list and live bids in the trade, the same references a dealer uses when buying from another dealer.

The setting and the metal

Platinum and gold are valued by weight at the day’s metal price, whatever condition the setting is in — a worn or broken mount loses you very little. Branded or period settings can be worth more than their metal, and we will say so if yours is.

One thing worth saying plainly: no buyer pays a retail price. A ring is bought at trade value, and the gap between what it cost in a shop and what it is worth to a buyer today surprises most sellers — the shop’s margin, and often the setting’s design cost, are not recoverable by anyone. We would rather you hear that here than feel it as a disappointment later.

How selling works

  1. 01 Send us a photo and the details The form below takes a minute. A photograph and a rough carat weight are enough to start. If you still have the certificate or the original receipt, even better, but nothing is essential.
  2. 02 You get a real figure in three to four working days Not a range designed to get you on the phone: a considered figure with the reasoning attached, and an honest note on anything that would move it up or down once we see the ring.
  3. 03 We tell you exactly how it works from there This depends on where you are, and we say plainly once we have seen the details. We have partners in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and Australia, and where the piece warrants it we coordinate with them so the ring is inspected close to you rather than posted across the world. Otherwise it comes to our Mumbai office by insured courier, arranged by you, and we tell you exactly how to send it safely.
  4. 04 You decide, and you are paid The offer is confirmed once the ring has been seen. Accept it and payment goes by bank transfer, in your own currency, with nothing deducted. Decline it and the ring is returned to you insured, with return shipping at your cost.

What we buy

We buy from private owners, not from the trade. Most of what we buy is exactly this: a ring somebody no longer wears.

  • An engagement ring, whatever the reason for selling
  • A wedding, eternity or anniversary ring
  • A ring you are upgrading, or trading up for something larger
  • A ring with a chipped or damaged stone — still worth real money
  • A piece inherited or passed down, including old cuts
  • A loose diamond you own, from 0.30 ct upwards

What we do not buy

Said plainly, to save your time and ours.

  • Dealer stock, parcels or trade lots. We buy from private owners only.
  • Rough or uncut diamonds, and anything offered from a mine or mining contact.
  • Lab-grown diamonds, and stones treated to change their color.
  • Any ring or stone you do not personally own, or cannot show you own.
  • Offers sent without a photograph, or with photographs taken from the internet.
  • Anything requiring payment in cash, in crypto, or to an account in another name.

Before we inspect or pay

We buy pieces with a clear history, and we are required to know who we are buying from. None of this is needed to get a valuation — only before a ring changes hands.

  • Photo identification in the name of the person selling.
  • Proof of ownership: the original receipt, the grading report, an insurance valuation, or probate papers for an inherited piece.
  • A signed declaration that the ring is yours to sell and carries no loan, lien or dispute.
  • Payment is made by bank transfer to an account in the seller's own name. We do not pay in cash or to a third party.

If a piece was inherited and the paperwork is long gone, say so. That is ordinary and we will tell you what would satisfy us instead.

Tell us about your ring

Only your name and email are required. Anything you do not know, leave blank, and we will ask if it matters.

  • A reply within three to four working days, from a person rather than a template.
  • No obligation, and no follow-up chasing if you decide not to sell.
  • Your details are never shared, sold or published.

Questions ring sellers ask us

How much is my engagement ring worth?
Most of the value sits in the centre diamond, so it comes down to that stone’s carat, color, clarity and cut, and to the trade price on the day you sell. The setting is valued separately, by the weight of its metal. As a guide, a ring resells for meaningfully less than it cost in a shop, because the retail price included a shop margin that no buyer can recover. Send us a photograph and we will give you a real figure for your ring rather than a range from a chart.
I do not have the certificate or the receipt. Can I still sell?
Yes. Most rings we are offered arrive with no paperwork at all, and it is never a reason not to enquire. A GIA or IGI report lets us price with more confidence and usually improves the offer, and if your ring is valuable enough that grading would pay for itself we will say so and can arrange it. What we do need before a ring changes hands is proof that it is yours to sell, which is a different thing and explained above.
How quickly will I be paid?
Payment is made by bank transfer once you accept the final offer and the ring has been inspected. It goes to an account in your own name, in your own currency, with nothing deducted. We confirm the exact timing with you when we make the offer, so there is no ambiguity.
Is it safe to send my ring to you?
Yes, and it must be. Shipping and insurance both ways are arranged and paid for by you, and we will tell you exactly how to send it so it is properly covered in transit. Where the ring warrants it we can often have it inspected by one of our partners in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe or Australia instead, so it never crosses the world. You are also welcome to bring it to our Mumbai office and watch the grading yourself, which costs nothing.
Will you beat a valuation I already have?
Show us the valuation and we will tell you honestly whether we can better it. Sometimes we can, because we buy for our own inventory and take no commission out of your price, where an auction or a broker deducts theirs. Sometimes we cannot, and we will say so rather than waste your time. Note that an insurance valuation is a replacement figure, not a resale figure, and is almost always higher than any buyer will pay.
My ring is damaged, or the stone is chipped. Is it still worth anything?
Almost always, yes. A chipped or damaged diamond can usually be recut, and we price it on what it will be once that is done rather than writing it off — this is the part most sellers are surprised by. A broken or worn setting makes very little difference, because the metal is valued by weight. We also buy wedding, eternity and anniversary rings, pendants, earrings and inherited pieces.
What if I decide not to sell?
Nothing happens. The valuation is free and we will not chase you afterwards; if the ring is already with us it is returned insured, with return shipping at your cost. A number of people ask us for a valuation purely for insurance, for probate, or to settle a divorce, and every one of those is a perfectly good reason to be here.
Will my enquiry stay private?
Yes. We do not publish transactions, we do not pass your details to anyone, and we do not add you to a mailing list. If you would rather not put anything in writing at all, call us instead.
