Investment & Collector Diamonds: Sourced to Hold Value
Buying a diamond to hold is a different exercise from buying one to wear. It turns on rarity, provenance and the price you pay on the day — and on a network wide enough to find the stone at all. We source for collectors worldwide, and say plainly when a stone is not worth holding.
What it is
An investment-grade diamond is one that is genuinely hard to replace — a color, size or quality that rarely comes to market — bought at a price that leaves room. PASAVAJA finds those stones through the trade rather than at retail, for private collectors around the world.
Why is investing in diamonds harder than trading them?
A trader turns stock over. Value is made on margin and volume, and a mistake is absorbed by the next parcel. Someone buying to hold has none of that cover: one decision, held for years, and the entry price decides the outcome long before the stone is ever sold.
That is why this takes more than product knowledge. Knowing what a stone is worth is not the same as knowing what to pay for it, and neither tells you whether that particular stone is one the market will still want.
Not every diamond holds its value
Most do not. A stone that is excellent by every line on its report can still be entirely ordinary in the market, because the report grades the stone and the market prices the scarcity. What holds value is what is genuinely hard to replace: color that cannot be repeated, a size that rarely comes to market in that quality, provenance that can be evidenced.
We will tell you when a stone you are considering is beautiful but not worth holding. That is usually the more valuable half of the advice.
Buying at the right price is most of the work
The same stone carries a different price depending on who is selling, where, and when. A stone bought at retail has to appreciate substantially before it is merely back to even; the same stone bought correctly starts from a different place entirely. Current market pricing, recent comparable trades and where a category is heading are what we bring to that, and they are the parts a buyer cannot easily see from outside the trade.
How do we find these stones?
By being in the places they appear. Our base is Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai, the largest diamond market in the world. Beyond it we attend exhibitions, work our contacts across the trade, and ask through a network built over three generations — often for a single stone, over months, until the right one surfaces at the right price.
An investment-grade stone is rarely sitting in a shop window waiting. It is found because someone knew to ask the right person.
Who we do this for
Private collectors, families placing part of their wealth in something portable and physical, and buyers who already own stones and want a considered view before adding to them. We have done this for collectors around the world; the work is the same wherever the client sits.
Common questions
What makes a diamond investment grade?
Scarcity above all — a color, size or quality that does not come to market often — supported by a report from a laboratory the trade actually respects, and bought at a price that leaves room.
Do you guarantee a return?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. Diamond values move with the market like anything else. What we can do is make sure you buy the right stone at the right price, which is the part that is actually within our control.
How long does it take to find a stone?
Weeks to months for something specific. We would rather wait for the right stone than place a nearly-right one with you.
Can you advise on stones I already own?
Yes. Send the reports and we will give you an honest read on what you are holding and what it would take to sell it well.
How do I sell it later?
Through us, or through anyone you choose — we tell you at the outset who the buyers for a stone like it are, because a stone with no obvious exit is not an investment.
